Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am sure that competitive spirit is a harmful idea when connected to space research but I also think that it would be alright to run NASA as a venture... If they can show up results that can be taken seriously their shares could even appear at the stock exchange... Therefore: My NASA...
Because NASA is so to say impotent at the moment... They launch approx. 2 or 3 shuttles a year - while it made a sense to launch a shuttle every week, in order to keep the costs low (serial production) and to be able to research more (onboard the shuttles or on ISS)... And the researches should have much more valuable achievements in everyday life than cool sunglasses - for example, NASA could sell its technology of burning hydrogen in an efficient way to car companies or they could sell the technology of the main liquid fuel tanks of the shuttles to store liquid hydrogen in light-weight and secure containers in passanger cars again... Without such PRODUCTS the vast investments of the 1970's are for example nothing but wasted money...
You may say that these ideas are too extreme but I'm saying that NASA should and could be much more than just decoration...
Best wishes, Joseph de la Mikula and Team
