Ladies and Gentlemen,
You cannot imagine how difficult it was to find customers for the Airbus A380 when the Superjumbo was new... We watched on TV the assembly of this giant of the skies and then its first flight holding back our breath... However by now there are 244 firm orders for the Airbus A380 - to the greatest satisfaction of all aviation enthousiasts, the Airbus Company and the passengers of this intelligent and happy aircraft (happy in terms of "yes, mankind can even do this")...
It is just the same difficult to find customers for the new Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental... The iconic Jumbo Jet is not less technologically advanced, not less environmentally friendly and not less exciting than its competitor from Europe... The majestic and elegant Jumbo Jet has even got a beautiful and long tradition - its operators and passengers have got the highest expectations... I am also looking forward to the maiden flight of the new Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental making the way for more satisfied travellers, more intercontinental business and private relationships and more full-filled dreams of experiencing the marvels of Earth...
Flying means moving in an entirely new medium - just like swimming... We humans are able to fly in the sky at incredible speeds and we can even travel in space - which makes mankind an absolutely unique species... Let us rejoice in human development and let us celebrate it everyday... If we all do our best to contribute to increasing peace on Earth we might find ourselves in Heaven one day...
