As we know the RR 102 EX concept car has got 2 engines on the rear axle... The outputs of the engines can be combined with each other nearly without end - that means it varies how much one of the engines supports the other one - and that is like a gear-box...
The concept cars of Italian industry designer Francesco Sbarro often have 2 engines, too - the combination of their outputs may also increase the efficiency of the whole system... Supposed you have got 2 gas pedals, too...
