Ladies and Gentlemen,
Modern cars still have got bumpers and what's more these bumpers are made of plastic that is easier to replace and is even flexible to take smaller collisions without a trace...
However these bumpers are so much integrated into the car body and so close to the more sensitive parts because of aerodynamic considerations that they protect hardly anything at a more serious crash - according to me... Therefore the otherwise easy plastic bumpers could be also stretched out of the bodywork at a more serious crash (just like an outer airbag) in order to provide with more protection for the passengers and the rest of the car...
