Ladies and Gentlemen,
Very official Boeing news release (747 Fun Facts): "Engine thrust has grown from 43,500 pounds (19,730 kg) per engine on the early 747s to as much as 63,300 pounds (28,710 kg) on the current model."
This is not as funny... Because the airliner itself has not grown by nearly 50%... Through the usage of modern materials (new alloys and composite materials) and an entirely new wing design for example the slight growth of the size of the Jumbo Jet must have been balanced out, I mean the weight of the airliner could not grow significantly...
But how does the nearly 50% more thrust affect on this dwarf of an airplane? Does it result in a higher speed perhaps? This is the mystery of the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental...
Best wishes, Joseph de la Mikula and Team
