The situation is well-known to all of us: the leaders of 3 superpowers are competing again...
a) China wanted to have a cutting-edge economy beyond classical pencils and vases,
b) the European Union wanted to produce airplanes, too - so that there is a wider variety world-wide and the future of Europe is also secure,
c) the USA wants to grow towards space seemingly - where there is the most space after all...
I think it is most important that nobody has to jump out of the airplane... Competition (in the service of customers) is traditional - cooperation would be something new... Because problems are everywhere the same - success and happiness still can have many different forms (after Tolstoi)...
