Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental - And Its Replacement The Boeing 777

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As I have read recently the Boeing 777 was originally designed to be the reserve airplane for Boeing 747 type aircraft... If you use the reserve machine in a self-supporting way that is a sign of material weakness and a nest of other problems, too...

If the Boeing 777 can fly 17,000 kms without internal stopping then it is about a unique record-value that the airplane is not meant to perform on a daily basis... A reserve airplane also means that it flies on the same route as the main jet - because the Boeing 747 is under maintenance or the flight is too crowded... If the Boeing 777 is announced as a self-supporting main aircraft many technical costs can be saved and inflight security doesn't seem to be taken seriously... I am not writing about the unquestionable reliability of twin-jets but I am writing about a wealth of jet engines you have to provide with to passengers...

Some not quite so well qualified people misunderstood the expression "replacement" as if the Boeing 777 was there to replace the Boeing 747 for ever and entirely... The Airbus A330 gets abused in a much worse way, serving transatlantic and transcontinental routes instead of the Airbus A340 or Concorde...

In the famous picture: a Boeing 777-200LR landing after a record-setting flight...

Best wishes, Joseph de la Mikula and Team
