Quiz - January 17th 2024

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Question: Which car is the closest concurrent of the Porsche 911 Carrera?

Answer: The Mercedes-Benz S-Class... (Engine output and price: very similar, car body and driving dynamics: Porsche sportier...)

Question: Why does a Porsche 911 Carrera have its engine in the rear?

Answer: So that the waves made by its engine are not weakened by the waves made by the car moving forward... Both the waves leaving the engine and the waves made by the car moving forward point in the same direction and strengthen each other...

Question: Does the rear-engine effect appear in mid-engine cars, too?

Answer: Yes, it does... The more a mid-engine is placed in the rear of the car the stronger the rear-engine effect is...

Question: What about front-engined and front-wheel-drive cars?

Answer: Hush!

Question: Are front-engined and real-wheel-drive cars bad constructions?

Answer: No, they aren't... The cardan shaft functions as a big spring in the middle of the car and it makes the whole car more flexible...

Best wishes, Joseph de la Mikula and Team
