Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have collected a few things that can go wrong on the journey of an interstellar spacecraft like the USS Enterprise... My list of failures and sources of danger - by far not complete:
1) the starship loses its way,
2) computer failures,
3) new gods - the crew falls apart,
4) new discoveries - the crew falls apart,
5) new relationships - the crew falls apart,
6) the crew becomes scarry/not recognizable,
7) lack of flexibility - unsuccess or aggression,
8) annihilation by a fashion wave,
9) legal absurdities,
10) cultural absurdities,
11) incapability of payment,
12) mandatory space suits,
13) boredom...
At the composition of the above list I tried to "expect the unexpected" regarding realistic situations... Once again: the collection of failures and dangers is waiting to be completed, if you please...

Boeing 747-8 Dreamliner - The Highlight Of 2012
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Carbon Fiber Plastic is a cool material for vehicle construction - still it has got its limits, e.g. the vehicles cannot be any large... However I think you could even build the majestic Jumbo Jet at a major part from carbon fiber plastic - once there are reinforcements in the fuselage in terms of the strong frames of the panoramic windows...
Being built of modern composite materials, the Boeing 747-8 Dreamliner could be a worthy successor of the legendary Boeing 747 airplanes... In the pictures below: plastic injection moulding and the Boeing 747-8 Dreamliner...

Boeing 767-8 Intercity - Panoramic Window Concept
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We all know how airplane windows look like - nothing is more beautiful than the prestigeous oval shape...
Except for panoramic windows probably... I think both modern materials/ technologies and structural considerations (metal colums instead of mill plates and a monolite window block instead of mill plates etc.) would allow us to let out panoramic windows in the fusalage...

Rolls-Royce Experimental Electric - Super Worst Class
Ladies and Gentlemen,
So Rolls-Royce Motor Cars are thinking about a range-extender for the RR 102 EX in terms of a 3-cylinder combustion engine... How could you make it quieter?
My first idea was: if you don't talk about it... ("Oh, it's only the refrigerator - of the neighbour...") Now I think that a range-extender producing noises over 20,000 Hz cannot be heard by the human ear at all... That means probably if the RPM are over 20,000 then you cannot recognize anything...
To my greatest surprise, in the sound-competition of a mini-V12 and a "chain saw" the "chain saw" won... One more chance for the V12 is the Vanity Range-Extender: "Oh, I'm only towing this trashy BMW 760Li..."

Super Worst Class - In The Air
Ladies and Gentlemen,
On January 1st 2012 I decided to learn to fly jet airplanes and to work as a pilot afterwards... This all happened on the advice of one of my best friends who is a pilot himself...
By the way 3rd Class: on April 12th 2012 there will be the 100th anniversary of the disaster of Titanic... I think this tragedy determines the whole year 2012 - the least expected year of 21st Century...
And finally a practical question: is it not possible that stewardesses also have a pilot licence? They are beautiful during the whole flight but when it's necessary they can also rule the situation... Stewardesses could be physicians the same way, too...

Super Worst Class - Enjoy With A Monthly Ticket
Ladies and Gentlemen,
In big cities busses literally fly on the separate bus lane - carrying many passengers in the most environmentally friendly way and in the most affordable way (you don't have to dig tubes for a subway...)
I used to rack my brains about how passenger cars could traffic in cities fast and with few pollution - however I think by now that the whole question setting is wrong... Instead of passenger cars more busses should traffic in cities - carrying many passengers in the most environmentally friendly and most affordable way...
Practically I mean that there could be 2 separate bus lanes on one side of a broad city road and passenger cars could only occupy the remaining lane(s)... This would mean much more public traffic in cities and much fewer passenger cars (for a modest road usage fee - because city roads are otherwise "first class roads" just like high-ways...)

Earthly Life - Inspired By NASA
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I think the website of NASA is more interesting than ever... The results of the Apollo program, the Space Shuttle era and of ISS are all online - but something new and even more monumental is being prepared, too: "the human exploration of deep space..."
Happy New Year!
Best wishes, Joseph de la Mikula and Team
