Rolls-Royce Experimental Electric - Elegance

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I think you can talk about elegance when something is both luxurious and practical... Now is the RR 102 EX concept car practical, too? I guess it is:

a) it is a family car (when the RR 102 EX carries more passengers in- and outside of a city it is more useful on the same energy) - this would be kind of a new approach for Rolls-Royce,
b) instead of petrol stations millions of charging options are waiting for the RR 102 EX in the same country - this means a better infrastructure,
c) a simple design means less chance for failures and the famous reliability (e.g. 2 simple electric engines instead of 1 complicated combustion engine) - a high-end product,
d) just because of its limits the RR 102 EX is youthful (should electric cars be mandatory for begining drivers?) and it also seduces to a drive - this is new again,
e) if you want an environmentally friendly car you have got a timeless design with the RR 102 EX...

Boeing 747-400 Formation Flight - Over 2,000 Passengers

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The airplanes belonging to the Boeing 747-400 Formation Flight concept take-off from different runways and possibly even from different airports but on their way to a common destination they join each other... The separate take-off is necessary because of safety and comfort considerations... The connection is created by double steel ropes that find the nose of following airplanes automatically and enable a flexible connection... After 3 or 5 Boeing 747-400 airliners take on a V-shaped formation - they start to save fuel... Reaching the destination airport(s) the V-formation dissolves and the Boeing 747-400 airliners land separately...

The Boeing 747-400 Formation Flight concept means 1 airplane towing 2 or 4 other airplanes - practically over 2,000 passengers can fly by using the engines of only 1 towing aircraft... Thank to the refined physics there are no restrictions in cruising speed or altitude... Of course, all airplanes keep their capability of self-contained flying, too during the whole formation flight... Boeing 767-8 Intercity - Improved Engines

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Of course, it also makes a sense to build a cooling system into jet-engines... Let's say an air-cooling because it is easy and it should be within the house of the first stream of turbofan jet-engines...

Cooler engines have got the following advantages:

a) the house of the jet-engine is stronger (shell-structure),
b) at lower temperatures everything is more secure,
c) at lower temperatures the combustion of fuel is also better because in colder air there is more oxygen...

Like it or not, the Boeing 767-8 Intercity rules the mid-size airplane market...

Cars With Jet Propulsion

Ladies and Gentlemen,

You could also drive automobiles by very fuel-efficient jet-engines if jet-engines were quieter and if they didn't harm their environment by their jets either...

Modern micro-turbines could be even quieter if the fuel was not pumped into them continously but only injected with pauses... Furthermore the nozzles of the jet-engines should be placed under the front of the car - this way their jet stream wouldn't disturb anybody or anything...

In the concept below the gas-turbines also drive electric generators of a hybrid drive-train...

Boeing 767-8 Intercity - New Engines

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Jet engines would be quietest if there was no combustion in them at all that means if they were only kind of wind-turbines... You can approach this ideal of silence by not pumping fuel into the combustion chamber continously but by only injecting fuel with longer pauses between the injections...

This way the jet-engine would not only get quieter but in the overflow of air the combustion would also become more efficient...

You could think the RR 102 EX is "weak" because of its limits - why is it "strong"?

a) the wealth of renewable energies,
b) the potential of inductional charging,
c) the structure of the power train that enables a traditional bodywork,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Hybrid cars seem to be the offroaders of cities: the electric drive train cuts the fuel consumption at the many accelerations and it wins energy back at the many brakings... You have got a little different driving style on highways...

Wild-hybrids (full- or plug-in-hybrids) enable you to drive through entire cities without emissions, such as fully electric cars...

And hybrid drive can be so elegant (a touch of electric drive here and there) and intelligent (a modular and compact system for all bodyworks) just like in the Mercedes E-class... Remarkable...

Oh, yes: despite of the hybrid system being elegant and intelligent you won't have it in Maybach luxury cars any more... This is sad actually...
